I Got the Naked Palette!

I finally got my hands on the coveted Urban Decay Naked Palette!  I have been lusting after this palette for months now and finally found it in stock at Ulta.  I think this is going to live up to the hype.  I swatched some of the colors; and they are just gorgeous.  Time to go play with my new beauty toys!

Yummy Bodywash

Softsoap Sweet Honeysuckle & Orange Peel body wash

The Softsoap Sweet Honeysuckle & Orange Peel body wash is a scent that I keep going back to after trying a new body wash and being unimpressed.  For me this is a nostalgic fragrance that reminds me of these soap crayons I used to draw on the shower walls with at bath time as a child.  I do not know what honeysuckle smells like; and, it doesn't smell orangey to me either.  It is simply a wonderfully indescribable fragrance!  Aside from the scent, this is just your basic body wash; it lathers nicely and gets me clean.

Physicians Formula Baked Eyeshadows

Physicians Formula Baked Collection eye shadows in Baked Oatmeal

This Physicians Formula eye shadow trio in Baked Oatmeal is my favorite for a quick and easy eye look.  I have repurchased this item several times.  Every time I use it, I remember why I love it so much.  The colors are very shimmery and blend nicely to create an everyday wearable eye look.  I highly recommend this trio for the girl on the go!

Beautiful Twists

Sexy Librarian Lip Conditioner, Sexy Silky Perfume Oil and Body Mist Set Seductive Vanilla Cupcakes

I just have to rave about this super cute set of body spray, perfume oil, and lip balm I got from Beautiful Twists.  I had to try the Sexy Librarian set because I am a librarian.  The whole set is just sooo yummy smelling, and I am loving how smooth the balm makes my lips.  The packaging of the products is really creative and fun.  Each lip balm or body spray has its own character including a story about the character.  These balms are ideal for the girl who can't live with out a lip balm in her purse.  Elladean on Esty creates of these amazing balms, etc.  I can't wait to try more of Elladean's lip balm creations!

Hard Candy Haul

Hardy Candy First Blush minis

I tried a few Hard Candy products for the first time this week.  So far, I am quite impressed with this line of inexpensive products.  I grabbed the First Blush minis set for $8 at Wal-Mart.  I figured this would be a good way to try the Living Doll blush, which I have heard good things about, and sample a few other products.  The set includes a mini Living Doll blush, mini Sheer Envy face primer, mini Glow All the Way Face & Body Luminizer, and mini Plumping Serum Volumizing Lip Gloss in the shade Pink.
  • The blush is a nice, shimmery, rosy pink that would like pretty on anyone.
  • The primer is similar to Smashbox Photo Finish primer in how it made my skin feel silky smooth.  And, the full-size primer only costs $8 for 1.6 oz.!
  • The luminizer is a very frosty, sheer pink; I found that I had to use this lightly on my face as a little goes a long way.  I really liked the shimmer it gave my cheekbones; this will be a great product to experiment with this winter when I tend to feel like my skin looks dull.
  • The Volumizing Lip Gloss felt nice on my lips, slightly tingly and not too sticky.  I noticed my lips looked a little plumper.  The color is a pretty, sparkly, pale pink.
This was a surprisingly good buy.  I look forward to experimenting with more Hard Candy products.

Hardy Candy nail polish in Beetle.

I am in love with this nail polish.  It looks green or purple or pink depending on how the light hits it.  And, it lasted five days without chipping!  Can't wait to try more colors!

Purely the best!

Purity Made Simple from Philosophy is one of the best facial cleansers I have ever used.  It's so gentle on skin while getting your face seriously clean.  I've used so many cleansers that feel great the first time I use them, and then just don't feel the same after frequent use.  That is not the case with this cleanser, my face feels fresh and glowing every time I use it.  Another great thing is that the small 5 oz. bottle will last months!

Bliss

Bliss Triple Oxygen + C Energy Cream

Bliss Triple Oxygen + C Energy Cream has become my must have splurge facial cream.  I loooove the way it makes my skin feel, and the light citrus scent is super refreshing.  I use it as a moisturizer after washing my face at night.  It's a pretty expensive product, but so worth it!

Current Favorite Lip Products

Left to right: Korres Lip Gloss in Beige, Rimmel Vinyl Bronze Mirror Shine Lip Gloss in Summer Nude, Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Summer Angel, Rimmer Moisture Renew Lipstick in Vintage Pink, and NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in Fushia.

Swatches left to right: Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Summer Angel, Rimmer Moisture Renew Lipstick in Vintage Pink, and NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in Fushia, Rimmel Vinyl Bronze Mirror Shine Lip Gloss in Summer Nude, Korres Lip Gloss in Beige.
I really love the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks, and Summer Angel in particular is so nice and moist it is like a lip balm.  It's the perfect frosty, nude/pale pink.  Rimmel's Vintage Pink is a great rosy pink to go with any look.

I have only tried the one NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil, and it is really great.  It glides on smoothly and feels so nice on my lips.

I seem to use Rimmel's Vinyl Bronze Mirror Shine Lip Gloss in Summer Nude as my go to lip gloss.  It looks great by itself and compliments nearly any lipstick.  The gloss has decent staying power and isn't too sticky.

The Korres lip gloss is another great neutral pink shade that would look good on any lips.  I also love this gloss so much because it feels light on my lips and doesn't have much of a scent, not to mention that it is all natural.

Fab Neutral Eyshadows

Here are a few of my favorite neutral eye shadows at the moment.  I am wearing Peach, Nutmeg and Volcano today, along with the Tarte MultiplEYE mascara.  I got the Tarte mascara in a sample bag from Sephora and was instantly impressed by the thick, full lashes it gave me.  I may have to splurge on it when my sample runs out.

Shadows left to right: NYX Nutmeg (Sheer shimmery taupe), NYX Iced Mocha (shimmery brown), Sephora Peach (great highlight color), NYX Flamingo (shimmery pink with gold flecks), NYX Volcano (sparkly plum-brown)

Eyelook:  Sephora Peach eye shadow (highlight), NYX Nutmeg eye shadow (lid), NYX Volcano eye shadow (Crease), Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen in blackened brown, Tarte MultiplEye mascara

Let's Get Started.

Hi, I'm Jill.  I have been following a number of wonderful beauty blogs for awhile now and thought it was time to start my own blog.  A year and a half ago, I was fairly new to makeup having only the basic techniques that my mom had passed along to me.  Then, in preparing to get married, I decided I wanted to learn how to make myself beautiful for my big day.  And, my makeup obsession started!
What I love most about makeup is that it makes you feel good.  Shopping for a new pair of pants can be a drag, but makeup is always the right size.  So, I hope to devote this blog to all things makeup with a bit of other random info thrown in from time to time.

I think I did a pretty good job for a makeup novice.
